Details of the structure (left) highlighted by uplit voile covered frames gave the rigid, sculptural set a softer feel. The plans (right) which made it all happen.
To create the industrial feel we decided to incorporate the actual framework of the set with our designs, exposing the steel framework amid geometric shapes and dramatic lighting. The presenters entered down and onto a steel chequerplate surface from behind the three huge projection screens. It’s testament to our design and construction that it remained standing after such abuse. and built by us, to soften the structure’s space.

We were asked by Fireball entertainment to come up with a stage set that was industrial and sturdy in design for the annual Rugby Players awards. And looking at the size of some of them, it needed to be too.
